6 youth sports team management apps to compare

Before you ask parents to download another app, check whether your club already has one. The club may need every team in that system for rosters, payments or schedule changes. If you choose a separate app, agree on who will keep both sets of records current.

For one team, the best sports team management app handles your weekly work. Both guardians need access. Coaches need to post events, check attendance and hand the team to next year’s volunteer. The six options below cover those jobs in different ways.

We reviewed official product, pricing and help pages on September 30, 2026. We have not tested these apps. The options are alphabetical. Secondslide publishes this guide and is one of the options.

Running several teams, registrations and staff roles? Use the sports club management software guide. If your main problem is reaching parents, start with the team communication app comparison.

1. GameChanger: try the free team tools first

GameChanger lists roster setup, schedules, RSVP and messaging as free team tools. Coaches and parents can use them without a fan subscription. Decide separately whether your team needs paid game content. Source: GameChanger team management.

Try a small set of tasks. Add an assistant, invite a family and move a practice. Have both guardians join the same player, then check what each sees. Ask the assistant to change the event using the access you plan to give them.

2. Heja: check who needs admin access

Heja’s free plan includes a schedule, RSVP, team chat and one admin. Team Pro adds desktop access, payment tracking and unlimited admins. Team Pro Max removes ads for everyone on the team. Check the plan if both the head coach and assistant need to change events. Source: Heja pricing.

Heja lists payment tracking in Team Pro. If you need to take card payments for a tournament, ask to see checkout too. Record the family’s total, the fees and the amount the team receives.

3. Secondslide: start with the team work you need

Secondslide is the operating partner for sports programs, and the team app is one part of a connected platform. Registration, payments and payment plans, scheduling, communications, team chat, the parent mobile app and push notifications all run on it. The same partner outfits your teams and runs your team store. Our team can also set up donation fundraising, sponsorships and a program website.

Bring the task on your desk: a team calendar, season dues or an upcoming uniform order. Ask us to show how two guardians join a player and what an assistant can change. Have the coach walk through attendance and a practice move. Use the checklist below to record each step.

4. Spond App: include payment fees in the choice

The Spond App is free for events, participation tracking and messages. Teams can request dues or money for trips and equipment. Use the App’s terms for this comparison and name that product when asking about costs. Sources: Spond App overview, payment requests.

For US dollar payments, Spond’s published App fee is 3.29% plus $1 per selected product in a payment request, including Stripe. Check how many products the family selects; the fixed fee applies to each selected product. The group absorbs the fees by default and can choose to recover them. If you recover fees, ask to see the family’s final checkout total. Source: Spond App payment costs.

For paid events, Spond says refunds must be arranged outside the App. Have the treasurer explain that process before collecting money. Record who returns the payment and which fees apply. Source: Spond event payments.

5. SportsEngine Mobile: connect the team and family first

SportsEngine says rostered members and guardians see a team in the App once it is active. The household’s primary owner can invite another guardian and set their access. The invitation stays pending until accepted. Ask your club to check those steps with two test guardians. Sources: team visibility, adding a guardian.

Creating an event needs the right team admin or coach access. The guide shows a “Notify Team Now” control for push or email notices. Have the assistant move a practice. Check the updated event, each guardian’s settings and the notice that arrives. Source: scheduling a game or event.

Ask your club which HQ package it uses and what coaches can do in it. SportsEngine lists the team App among paid HQ package features. Put any club costs alongside the team tools in your budget. Source: SportsEngine HQ package comparison.

6. TeamSnap: choose the single-team plan for this job

TeamSnap’s single-team page lists a free plan with scheduling, messaging, assignments and payments. Premium adds availability/RSVP, among other functions. Plans also differ by roster size. Ask how your plan counts players, coaches and other members, then confirm the limit for your roster. Source: TeamSnap single-team plans.

Use the single-team offer for a coach’s app budget. If the club needs registration across several teams, request TeamSnap ONE by name. Our TeamSnap vs. SportsEngine guide covers that club-level choice.

Put free plans in the team budget

Write down which jobs stay free for your roster. A free calendar with paid attendance tracking may suit your team. You might also keep attendance on another sheet. Choose knowing who will update it.

Count payment charges separately from the app subscription. Check whether a paid benefit covers one coach or the whole team. Record the number of admins and who still sees ads. Ask next year’s coach to try taking over the team before you choose.

Free team app trial checklist

Use a fictional player and two test guardians. Do not enter real family information until your club has approved the trial. Run the same tasks in each option and record what you actually see.
