About the Premier Lacrosse League
The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is the top professional outdoor lacrosse league in the world. Founded in 2019 by Paul Rabil and Mike Rabil, the PLL brought a tour-based model to professional lacrosse, taking games to major venues across the country instead of relying on small local markets. The league features 8 teams and plays a summer schedule from May through September.
PLL games air on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2, with most regular-season matchups streaming on ESPN+. The league signed a landmark 5-year broadcast deal with ESPN starting in 2026, giving lacrosse its biggest TV platform ever. Weekend doubleheaders are the standard format, with two games on Saturday and two on Sunday at each tour stop.
Where to Watch PLL Games
ESPN+ is the single best subscription for watching PLL games. Every regular-season game streams live on ESPN+, plus select games get the ABC or ESPN main network treatment. If you have a cable package that includes ESPN channels, you will catch the biggest PLL games on linear TV. For cord-cutters, ESPN+ at $10.99/month covers the full PLL season.
PLL Teams
The PLL has 8 franchises: the California Redwoods, Carolina Chaos, Denver Outlaws, New York Atlas, and four more squads that roster the best lacrosse talent in the world. Each team carries about 25 players, many of whom played NCAA Division I lacrosse at top programs. The tour-based format means fans across the country get to see every team play live.
PLL Championship Series
The PLL season builds toward the Championship Series in September. Four teams qualify for the playoffs, and the semifinals and championship games are played in a single-elimination format. The PLL Championship typically airs on ABC or ESPN in prime time. The league also holds a preseason Sixes event in late February or early March, a fast-paced 6v6 format that kicks off the lacrosse year.
